03 / A little easier, on both sides

Their friendly helper.
Your peace of mind.

FOR THEM

A patient answer. Every time.

An always-there friend for the questions they shouldn’t have to save up.

  • Speak or type, in their language.

  • Send something to you with one tap.

04 / Their computer. Their say.

Built to be trusted,
not feared.

Help should feel like family.
Clear permission. Clear boundaries. A way to stop.

“May I make that change?”
Octo is helpingStop

Always visible. Always their choice.

01

Their OK comes first.

Before any change, Octo asks. They can say no.

02

A big, visible Stop.

A banner stays on screen while Octo helps. Stop works anytime.

03

No passwords. No money.

Octo never reads or types passwords, reads bank pages, or pays or buys anything.

04

Paired in person.

Scan the code on their own screen, together. A call or a link can never add someone.

05

Only your family.

Only family paired to that computer can send it tasks. A clear record stays on both sides.

06

A second look at scams.

Point at a suspicious pop-up or email. Get a plain answer, and send it to you if they’re unsure.

05 / The everyday things

Little tasks.
A lot less worry.

Family tech support, from the first click to “thanks, it works”.

“Fix the Wi-Fi.”

Find the problem, ask before changing settings, and help them reconnect.

“Join the call.”

Zoom, Meet, Discord or WhatsApp. Get them into the conversation.

“Find that photo.”

Find the email or photo you sent, and put it right in front of them.

“Make it bigger.”

Bigger text, louder sound, a brighter screen. A little adjustment goes a long way.

“Is this safe?”

A calm second opinion on a worrying pop-up, email or message.

“Install the app I sent.”

A familiar request from you. A clear OK from them before anything changes.

Made for parents. And grandparents.

Technology should
meet them halfway.

Big text. A calm screen. Voice first, in their language. You handle the first setup; they have nothing to configure or maintain. Octo updates itself.

If something goes wrong, Octo tells you, not them.

A gentler kind of tech support for elderly parents.

answers.

Email October

Can Octo see everything?

Only when they ask, or during a task they can see happening. Screenshots go only to you. Octo doesn’t quietly watch their screen in the background.

What if Octo makes a mistake?

Octo asks before making changes, and the visible Stop button works anytime. When it’s unsure, it asks you for help instead of guessing. Like any helper, it can make mistakes.

Does Mom need an account?

No. You set Octo up together once, using your October account and a code on her own screen. She can just ask Octo.

Is it safe from scammers?

Pairing happens in person by scanning a code on their own screen. A phone call or a link can never add someone, and only paired family can send tasks. Octo asks before changes, keeps Stop visible, and never reads or types passwords, reads bank pages, or pays or buys anything. Point & Ask also helps them check suspicious messages; if they’re unsure, they can send one to you.

Which languages?

They can speak or type to Octo and get plain answers in their language. Set their preferred language together during setup. Contact us to check a particular language or voice option.

Which computers and phones?

The Octo helper is available for Windows and Mac. The Octo app for you is available for iPhone and Android. You’ll need a camera on your phone to scan the pairing code, and an internet connection to send tasks.

For minimum OS versions and hardware requirements, ask October about your devices before installing.

Is it private?

Messages between your phone and their computer are encrypted end to end. Octo looks at the screen only when they ask or during a visible task, and screenshots go only to you. Read October’s privacy policy for more.

What does it cost?

Free to start; October plans unlock more.

Who makes Octo?

October, the team behind Lantern. Our family also includes October Desktop, a workspace for teams of agents; Harness, a coding agent; and Bus, which helps agents work together. Octo brings a friendly helping hand to your family’s computers.

A little Octo. A little closer.
